About Me

Hello, my name is Amy McLane, and I’m a non-recovering write-o-holic. I write fantasy of all stripes, from epic to slipstream, and also dabble in science fiction, YA, and horror. My current project is a multi-book epic fantasy. The working title of the first book is The Iron Key. TIK has been eating my brain exclusively for several years now, so believe me when I say it will be awesome once it’s finished.

You may have noticed this blog updates sporadically at best- For a more regular taste of who I am and what I’m about, I post every Monday at the Parking Lot Confessional.

Here’s a few of my most popular PLC posts.

The Chopping Block: Find your Beginning, Make it Pop
Fight Club, Epic Fantasy Style
Setting Goals: Don’t Bite Off More Than You Can Chew

If you’d like to read some of my fiction for free, here’s a few flashes (micro fiction of 500 words or less) I wrote for the 500 Club.

Write a story from the point of view of a hitman. In Your Cloak (Dark Epic Fantasy)
What happens if they don’t get you to the church on time? Late (Urban Fantasy Noir)
Today would be like any other day except that… Flipping (UF/Slipstream)

The 500 Club is tons of fun- every Thursday it gives you 2 prompts, and then you kick out a flash and promote it at the Club.

And here’s what else I’ve done.
